The Herzberger Welfen Palace has been a centre of attention for guests and citizens since 1985.

Its 900-year-old palace ground houses the Museum Palace Herzberg.
It is Lower Saxony's biggest half-timbered palace and one of the most important monuments in the Harz region.

In the restored main wing visitors can inform themselves about the building and palace history. Main attractions are the dukes and duchesses that were connected with the palace Herzberg. A facsimile of the evangelist Henry the Lion and loan items from the Historical Museum Hanover, the Kestner-Museum Hanover and also from the royal house Hanover illustrate spectacularly the changeful history of the palace Herzberg.

The visitor awaits further the forest exhibition 'From the primeval forest to the commercial forest', the Rittersaal as concert, talks and exhibition room as well as the palace restaurant.
Today's building was established as a Renaissance- palace after the big fire in the year 1510.

The palace ground forms a four-wing building around a nearly square yard. A special attraction in this ensemble is the palace tower because of its artistic design in the style of the Weser-Renaissance.
